I have an HP machine with XP Pro and it finally downloaded and installed
Service Pack 2, about a week ago. The first thing I noted when it started it
reboot, was that it now took twice the time to load up. It then seemed to
take twice as long for almost everything to come up, apps, etc. The latest
event that SP2 did was to permanently hibernate my hard drive and the only
way to get it back was to power down and reboot. Yesterday, I had to reboot
4 times for the same problem within 1 hour. I lost work time and
information. Dispite all the so called "good" stuff that SP2 is suppose to
have it now resides in my trash bin.
My recomendation, dump it as an upgrade. If the system is brand new and
it's already on it and working fine, then maybe it's worth the effort. Or
you can always restage your machine.
