Service Pack 3 Installation Failure

As soon as the download tries to start I recdeive the error message

"Installation Failure

Error Code: 0x80070005

I looked through the self-help resources and did not find this problem
discussed.

Lone Star, whether to install SP3 or not will have to be your decision. All
anyone can do is provide information which will assist you in making a

Not yet. But starting in about two years, all security updates will require
SP3, so at that point it will be essential.

As Harry points out, you will need to have SP3 installed eventually or you
won't be offered any more critical updates.

And remember that MS is offering free installation and compatibility support
but only until 14 Apr-09:

A good point - it should probably be installed well before this date. However,
I wouldn't recommend installing it right now, wait a few more weeks and hope
that application vendors (and Windows Update) catch up.
