Service Pack 3 update stops use of Outlook Express

Following a service pack 3 update, outlook express fails to connect to
exisying accounts. If I restore my system to prior to the service pack
update, all's well again.
Any ideas anyone?

Was OE open and running when SP3 was applied or are you referring to the
installation of an update *post* the application of SP3?
If the latter, which update was it ?

Please define "fails to connect," Sid. Post any error messages (i.e.,
encounterd when sending or receiving) in their entirety.
