Depends on what you think "support" means.
I tried the "support" phone number for Windows Defender this afternoon
on the failure to update problem, only to totally waste two plus hours
with a phone droid, probably in India, with an accent so thick I had to
have him repeat things over and over, and with no real expertise in
solving the problem. All he did over the course of two plus hours was
go through the public online resources, which I told him I had done at
the very beginning of the call.
I was then supposed to get a call back from escalation within the next
couple of hours, but since that time came and went without a call back,
I had to solve the problem on my own.
In short, if you value your time and mental health, do everything you
can to solve the problem on your own.
