Service pack one start up error

everytime i install it, my computer restarts itself and then runs an error
during start up.
It keeps telling me that files neccessary for start up arent there so it
restores my computer to the same settings before it was installed

Can you be more descriptive - especially on how you got to this point?

And your Windows version would be...?

Are you referring to Vista SP1 or what?

Was "SP1" offered by Windows Update or did you attempt to install it
manually?
