God I hate when a company gives trash updates that don't
work for a product they refuse to support anymore.

That said, here is my problem.

I updated the "critical security" update that was coming
up on the bother box this morning. Since then I can't use
any of the software that we use over the network here at
work, most specifically Symantec Act.

Help!!!!

Please provide some basic information:
Which Windows operating system are you using?
Which specific "hotfix" did you download and install?
Did you try uninstalling the "hotfix"?
The more particulars you provide, the better your chances
of getting a viable solution!

I have the similar problem. First off I am running a win XP home edition. I
had installed the SP2. It went great no problems. Then the Fix for the JPEG
came across as a critical update. After installing that i am unable to view
pictures in my "my pictures" folder. I have a scanner plugged in and happen
to scan and then notice I was unable to view them. I thought to get in a
delete the new JPEG fix, but am unable to find it in the add/remove programs,
unless its not label like I believe it to be, which would be the support
number , right .... KB873374??? Anyone have any info on this ...... I need
help. I am doing a DVD photo album for my parents anniversary October 11 and
am unable to finish due to this problem .......... thanks in advance!

service pack update KB833989 and KB873374 are the only
designations I see, but then I'm not as savvy as most.

Windows 98 4.10.98

I see no option to uninstall any of the updates, I have
had this issue before after "hotfixing". I'm sure there
must be a manual way to uninstall, but I have not
attempted without advice.

Is there a way to lose the constant "bother screen" that
pop's up?

Thanks for the help

There is a check box at the top of the Add/Remove programs window to
view installed updates, also look at the $uninstall*KBarticle* folder
in the windows directory. It is a hidden file and should be in Blue
letters. You can uninstall it from there.
