You receive an error message when you try to install the 2007
Microsoft Office suite Service Pack 1:

I'm on MS Vista Business and Office 2007 basic. The patch referenced in the
KB article did not help me. I tried everything else short of uninstalling
Office 2007. I've spent the better part of the day trying various
suggestions and none of them have worked. I've tried the CD trick, Office
2007 CD, tried repairing Office 2007, the patch in the KB article.

I'm trying an un-install and re-install of the application. Unbelievable.
Why can't it just work?

I tried uninstalling and re-installing Office 2007 and that didn't hlep
either. Same problem, same story. I didn't even open Office at all. I
tried installing the SP on top of what I installed, that failed. I tried
adding the patch from the KB article and then updating the SP and still it
won't install. I give up. I've been working on resolving this for about 8
hours now and I still don't have resolution.
