      10-08-2009
Started downloading service pak updates and it seems service pack 3 is still
trying to download and it has been 3 days now whenever i turn my pc on there
it says service pack 3 of 3 ...0% and it is really slowing my lap top down
please help!!

mind? your 79 years is a long time for someone still hanging around

It looks like the download has been corrupted. I suggest you should
download the big fat file from Microsoft Website and then install it
from your desktop. The link is here:

Oh SAQless.. ;-)

You know the group name is now a misnomer much like
"windowsxp.HelpandSupport" has become. It should just be ".update" now,
IMHO.

This newsgroup covers both Windows Update and Microsoft Update, since they use
the same underlying technology. Therefore, questions about Office service packs
are on topic (assuming they are being applied via Microsoft Update).

In any case, it would be dangerous to assume that any particular question is in
fact on topic, since they often aren't.

Hey antipodean,

You managed to wake up then? Name of the Newsgroup is of utmost importance
when it comes to replying to messages. Any sensible pig should be able to
read the name to begin with. It should be the starting point.
