I'm having the same problem and have been searching everywhere for an answer,
but most/all of the possible solutions I've been able to find require the XP
CD that everyone assumes came with your PC! Out of the 3-4 computers I've
purchased over the last decade, none have come with an OS CD, it was always
preinstalled. Does this mean that I must go out and purchase some software
that costs nearly half the price of a new desktop to restore my old PC and
try to recover some of the files??? Surely there's another way to restore the
winsrv.dll component or fix the corrupted registry values that are keeping my
PC from booting... I've been at this for nearly a week now. I've tried at
least a dozen different suggestion and all have failed. I cannot boot in any
way at all, so NO Safe Mode, no booting up using the last known configuration
to work properly. All I've got is the Recovery Console and I have to use the
6 Windows Setup disks I made to get to that. What to do?
