service pk2 has buggered my scanner

please help!!!

installed service pk2 on my computer a while ago and now when i try to use
my scanner the following message appears-

''The scanning software could not be found, or your scanner is not
connected. please make sure your scanner and your scanning software are
properly installed''

i have a packard bell diamond 1200 plus scanner,tried re-installing the
scanner sofeware but still have the same problem, all cables are connected.
In device manager it says it is working fine. used system restore to get rid
of service pk2 and the scanner worked, but wanted service pk2 so installed it
again, still had the same problem. gave up on trying to fix the problem but
now i need to use the scanner and its over the 3 months the computer will let
you restore back to!

so how do i get the scanner to work with service pack ?

Perhaps try PBell web site for updated software/drivers?
Presumably you reinstalled scanner as per PBell's instructions. ie it
usually requires software/drivers installation with scanner disconected.

By the way... a simple search at google.com using the words
[packard bell scanner "windows xp sp2"] is how you could find
your answer.
