Where in Vista will I find information on 'How to set (new) Associations'
I was directed to look in Control Panel; but I just don't see it there.

The easiest way is to just double-click the file. You'll be prompted to
choose an application. If you tick the "Always use this application" box,
the association will be set.

In XP there was a File Types tab in the Folder Options dialog. Someone in
their infinite wisdom deemed this unnecessary in Vista. The only way to
directly edit an association in Vista is via the registry editor.

In my view, the easiest way to set an association is to right-click
any file of the particular type, then click "Open with" and "Choose
program." When you choose the program, make sure that the box "Always
use this program..." is checked.

I should have given more info then I originally posted, sorry about
that.
While in NJ I sent myself an email with an attachment in PDF format and then
opened this email in Florida with a new computer with Vista OS Home 64.
Double clicking or right clicking will not give me the options offered here.
I can change the association in Control Panel from PDF to Wordpad, Notepad
or Internet Explorer with no success. Thanks for all your help.
