Since you clipped the rest of the thread, it's hard to know exactly what you
are asking about, not sure what those comments mean. However, if you just
need to know how to hook up Media Center with a set top box, the basics are:

- Plug the MC IR receiver into a free USB port on your computer
- Plug an IR emitters/blasters into the back of the IR receiver
- Stick the other end onto your set top box over the IR sensor
(you don't need an IR input port on the box)

You could read this article (it deals with dual boxes, but the concepts are
the same).
