I have a 3.5" 1.44M "A:" drive and a 5.25" 1.2M "B:" drive working
correctly with my Vista Ultimate 32 bit.

Install the drive (which I gather you've already done) then enter BIOS setup
and configure both drives. If the hardware is OK and you get the
configuration right, they'll show up in Computer as you'd expect.

I don't know what he uses it for but my main use these days is to create
disks for my TRS-80 and CP/M systems and to transfer software from old
floppies to my emulators. I also have a few hundred copy-protected games
I like to play from time to time.

Mostly recovering files from old backups.

And for installing old software into an MS-DOS 6.22 Virtual PC.

I have two stored, though I haven't powered up either in years. I do have a
simulated Altair (CP/M 2.2, 3.x, MP/M 2, MDOS, and a few others) running on
my Vista system, along with numerous Virtual PC installations (XP, ME,
MS-DOS 6.22, Oberon, Warp 3).

As a side note to that, many newer motherboards only support one floppy
drive.
