How to set up a LAN to play games

Hi, I have a problem that I wanted to play Yu-Gi-Oh Joey the Passion whit a
friend and we try to play the game but we don´t know how to sep up a LAN to
conect one computer to the other, we have the cable, but can anybody help us?
please will be very a helpful.
