Verify that when registering the spn the CN doesn not include \ or ,.
To do this go to AD and find the account.
Right click the account and click rename. Change the name in any way and then the Rename User popup will appear. In the popup change the Full name to exclude the characters mentioned.

adding a SPN. it responds "updated object" and then through LDP.exe I can
