I have installed Vista on the C: drive and had XP installed on what now is
the second drive in the first partition and it is now active and unhidden.
This was hidden when I installed Vista. When I boot the machine it does not
see the second OS so it just boots to Vista normally. How do I make it give
me the dual boot choice?

Thanks!!

Paul

you have to install the OLD OS first, then install the NEW OS

DANGER>> stupid Microsoft left a BUG that will delete the vista restore
points
every time you boot into XP.

Be warned.. vista sucks

I had the old XP OS installed first but the partition it is in on the second
drive was hiddened at the time and was not "active" . Should I reinstall

Thanks.

yes vista should "see" that xp exists so it can add it to its boot manager

so reinstall vista with xp not hidden

Completely unnecessary.

configuration, making advanced "functional" changes like adding an operating
system to the boot menu..."

Happily dualbooting in Canada,

I think you would have been much better off not hiding the parttion in the
first place.

However, I think now... You'll probably have to look up and learn to use
BCDEdit.exe

Not real fun, but I think it'll do the job.

Sorry no step-by-step instructions that I know of yet.

Oh, I see now there is also a GUI interface to BCD someone wrote:

Might be easier than banging your way through with the command line
BCDEdit.exe

Cheers
