I have Visa home Premium and tried to set up a hotmail.com account.
When ever I try to access it, the system confirms that I have set one
up, but I cannot see how to get into the main send/receive page. I am
diverted to Windows Live Mail with the only option being to log out.
Can anyone help please?

We really don't know what or how you are trying...

You can't access a Hotmail account with Windows Mail.

You can access your Hotmail with a browser, like Internet Explorer 7 or
Firefox
http://login.live.com

You can access Hotmail with the newer Windows Live Mail (desktop program).

There is a newer version of Hotmail, named Windows Live Hotmail (browser
only).

Windows Mail will not allow you to set up a hotmail account. Windows Live
Mail, however, will, so you have two options: a) continue to access hotmail
from hotmail.com (or .co.uk) b) use windows live mail to access all your
email accounts.

If Outlook Express was replaced by Windows Mail, then why can't I use it
to download and read Hotmail? It is my main email, and I can't believe
there is no way for it to work. After all, Hotmail is a Windows
product!!! Can anyone explain this to me?

Because Microsoft took that functionality out of Windows Mail to get
everyone to use Windows Live Mail. Hotmail is not the only email provider
which cannot be used with Windows Mail. All HTTP mail servers are the same.
Personally all I use Windows Mail for nowadays is downloading newsgroups.

Actually, Windows Live Mail does that, too! Nothing special, but if you use
Windows Live Mail for mail, you can also use it for news...

Because Microsoft controls things in the Microsoft World, not you.

Actually, it isn't (and neither is Windows, for that matter). Microsoft
bought the product like they did with so many others. They *stole*
Windows from Xerox.

Dump Hotmail. Who knows what curves they will throw you next. Try GMail.
It works in all email programs. Or you can use Yahoo, as long as you
don't use yahoo.com or yahoo.ca and use it free in any email program.
