Setting up Outlook Express

I have AOL & understand that I can set up Outlook Express to read & send
email. I followed the instructions from AOL to the tee; but when it gets to
the last step in the configuration & starts to download folders from the mail
server I get the following error: General authentication failed. None of the
authentication methods supported by your IMAP Server (if any) are supported
on this computer. AOL sends me to Microsoft, Microsoft sends me to Dell &
thier online techs don't know anything about the software. I tried to send
an email from Outlook, but received the following message:The host
smtp.aol.com could not be found. Acct. imap.aol.com, Server smtp.col.com,
Protocol:SMTP, Port 587 Secure (SSL); No, Socket Error: 1101, Error Number:
OX800CCCOD. I definately had it set up according to AOL's instructions. I
have Windows XP. Can anyone shed some light on this? Would appreciate it
very much. Thanks, Jackie

Thanks Carey,
I'll try that & see what I can find. Only reason I wanted to do this was I
get alot of eml attachments that AOL doesn't support & have to be opend with
OLExpress. Makes it easier to just receive them in OL & send them on to
others without having to go back & forth. Thanks again.
