Hi, I am trying to download SP2 after having to re install windows. I'm
getting an error message stating:

"Setup cannot copy the file savedump.exe. Ensure that the location specified
below is correct, or change it and insert 'Windows XP Service Pack 2 Source
Files' in the drive you specify."

Copy files from:
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\16b2c96a0 c41f4dfdb4d3cc228a4f819

Can anyone assist with this error ASAP as I'm not sure what to do.

Thanks in advance!!
Sheryl

Did you do a Repair Install or a format & clean install?

Are you currently running WinXP SP1?

I did a format and clean install.

Does SP1 Automatically load onto Windows XP?? Maybe i should do that first?
I didn't try downloading anything else other than SP2 before getting the
error.

I have had to do a cean install once before and I remember downloading SP2
instantly with no problems.

If you WinXP CD is WinXP SP1, yes; otherwise, it's WinXP Gold.

In any event, you should be able to install SP2 if you're running WinXP Gold
or WinXP SP2.

And if you're running WinXP SP1 after the reinstall, you can skip SP2 (as
well as over 100 post-SP2 updates) and install SP3 instead.

So, please tell me if you're now running WinXP Gold or WinXP SP1?

To determine this: Start | Run | (type in) winver | OK
