Terrence,
It's best *not* to post your email address on the newsgroups. There are
spam bots that harvest the addresses. Just "munge" the address, such as
terrencegsNotAthotmail.com or something similar.
Have you seen this MSKB article ? :

Did you download the entire SP2 package manually or, are you attempting
to install it from Windows Update ?
Suggest you download the entire package from here :

It would be best to temporarily disable the installed Antivirus software
and, if you are using a 3rd party firewall, temp disable that, too.
Then enable the built in Windows Firewall (instructions are for XP SP1):
1. Click Start, click Run, type control.exe netconnections, and then
click OK.
2. Right-click the connection on which you would like to enable ICF, and
then click Properties.
3. On the Advanced tab, click the box to select the option to Protect my
computer or network.
4. If you want to enable the use of some applications and services
through the firewall, you must enable them. To do this, click Settings,
and then click to select the programs, protocols, and services that you
want to enable for the ICF configuration.
It would behoove you to read these articles prior to installing SP2 :
