I guess it's a simple question... How come, when I'm trying to enter my
mobile phone number and then I have to pick my country, there is no POLAND on
the list?
Theres Germany... right next to us i might add... but no Poland.
Any clue?

Greetings,

Where abouts are you seeing this and in what Messenger version? Within the latest Edit
Contact dialog for Messenger 2009, Poland (country code 48) is certainly there.

However, I know in previous versions there was a completely different options for setting up
a mobile device. If you really want to setup your mobile device for Messenger, I'd recommend
that you go to Windows Live Mobile (http://mobile.live.com) and set it up there instead.

Ok... I'll try to explain.
The thing is I lived in US for a long time, now I moved to Poland. So
apparently your options available to you are based on the location you will
enter in your profile.

So now... if I'm going to log-in to messenger with an identity on which my
location is still in US, then when I click "OPTIONS" it opens up an "options"
dialog box, where on the left side is a list of separate "tabs". One of them
is "PHONE". So I click on it, it gives me a window with a button "mobile
settings".
Now... when I click on it it takes me to webpage where It says "register
your phone". I enter it and I click next... and this is the page where I'm
supposed to choose "country/region" and poland isn't one of them.

Now there is a different story if I will log-in to messenger with an
identity based on location in poland.
When I click on "OPTIONS", I don't even have a tab named "Phone" available.

So my question is why?

I'm trying to set up my account so that my instant messeges are being
forwarded to my Mobile phone as an SMS... Is it even possible in poland then?

Thanks a lot in advance... I hope you'll be able to figure it out.

BTW. in poland mobile nubers have only 9 digits and not 10 like in US. Maybe
that will help to solve a mistery.

Hi,

Ah, yes that's true that Live Mobile is based on the locale in your Windows Live ID. You'll
just need to change that by going to the following link and changing your profile information
to reflect your location:

yeah. i figured that. But why, if I may ask, this option is not available in
Poland?

Hi,

Direct Live Mobile involvement is done per carrier and within their guidelines. In some
regions and carriers, Microsoft doesn't meet their guidelines or the carriers don't wish to
allow this service on their network.

One workaround you can do is select United States and then choose the (Other) option under
the carrier which will allow you to enter an e-mail address (assuming your network has
assigned you one).
