How to setup two identical displays

I may be in a minority, but I am very satisfied with Vista Home
Premium. I eliminated dual boot with XP and am now Vista only.

What I want to do is connect my 50" TV to the computer so that I can
watch instant Netflix. I have a Nvida GeForce 7600 video card and I
can configure it so that either my LCD or TV is the primary monitor
and then select show desktop on the other one. However, no icons are
present on the secondary monitor and it is not a duplicate.

I want two identical displays, which is what I get when Vista is
booting up, but when Vista is fully loaded one display is primary and
the other just has the Vista wallpaper. No icons, no video, etc.

Thanks for any help.

Control panel, Personalizations, Display Settings. You do not want to
'extend' the desktop.

Thanks for you quick response. Unless I select "extend" the second
monitor, the display remains blank.

You need a dual-head video adapter to accomplish this.

I, too, have a Nvidia Card. I am using NVidia 175 driver which I downloaded
from them on 10 July 2008. Try this:

Right click on Desktop/Personalize/Display Settings/Advanced Settings
(Button bottom right)/GeForce 7600 Tab/Start the NVIDIA Control Panel
(Button)/Display/Set up multiple displays/ and in Item 1 select the second
of three radio buttons marked "Clone". I think that should do it, but I am
reluctant to try on my system in case it upsets my icons too much (even with
"Save Desktop Icon Layout" which I find is not always totally successful!)
