I'm drifting about 400 computers daily. After installing KB925902 on most of
these, several bugs have occured. This happens with 3 or 4 computers daily.
It started last week.

*The sound driver for Realtek and Soundmax audiocards have been corrupted.
*The computers automaticly switch between classic and windows XP themes.
*User32.dll have to be replaced. (This only happend with one single computer)

To fix this I have installed KB935448. And reinstalled the sound driver.
This will fix the audio problem, but the themes are still automaticly
switching.

Anyone with the same problems with the themes?

I also have this problem relating to themes. I also notice after my xp themed
task bar reverts back to the "old fashion" taskbar, My file shares are gone
and the "server" service is stopped. Restarting fixes this but as soon as
themes act up my shares go out the window.

I am having same problem with computers in a Small Business Server
2003 enviroment as well as some stand alone systems. This is driving
me crazy. Any help is greatly appreciated. I know that many services
are stopped after this problem occurs and starting the services again
does not fix the problem. On one system, I eventually have lost all
connectivity to shares and can not restore them.

I'm having this same issue and it's driving me crazy. I've restored my
computer three times now but each time I let the update download I almost
immediately run into these problems.

I have unintstalled (KB931261) and have not had my themes issue or network
issue (YET). Can someone uninstall this update to see if it fixed.
please post if so.

Seems like themes are an issue these days. I have Vista. Cant get security
updates to install at all, and AERO theme goes back to Windows Basic or
Standard after the required Restart after trying to install an update.

I'm having the same issues You're describing (except audiocard). I'm running
XP Home SP2 and IE7. Among the issues are the ones described above:
- Server service stops (without messages)
- Taskbar switches to classical view (espacially when running Microsoft
udate, no message)
I Can't find that the patches KB931261 or KB925902 have been installed (yes,
I've selected to show updates in "Add remove Programs" and have also checked
through history on Microsoft update).
Also when running Microsoft update the process to detect new patches hungs
until I close the window. Have had it running for 30-50 minutes....
Any ideas how to solve this issue???

Solved it!

Problems:
- A couple of services stopped after startup, including "Server"
- Running Microsoft Update resulted in hanging searching for updates
- Running command line "wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow" resulted in
finding update KB925902 but not beeing able to install it.

Here's my way to solve this issue
- Install KB935448, reboot
- Run "wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow" (resulted in finding and
installing KB925902)
- Reboot, run Microsoft Update (GUI) and now everything worked fine, no
hanging and services are running fine!
