SHA256 Issuing SHA1

Hi All,

If I issue a v3 certificate from my SHA256 IssuingCA with the request hash
dropped down to SHA1 in the template, would an application which only
understands SHA1 encryption understand this cert? Or, with the chain leading
up to certs signed at SHA256, would it not be able to validate the
certificate?

Many thanks,
Orb.
