Shadow copies and Indexing in Ultimate and Business

My C (system drive) is getting quite full. How much room
do shadow copies and index files take up on the drive?

As far as shadow copies, are they really necessary if I
create Acronis Image files every other day?

Should I just get a bigger drive?

Get another drive and move all your User Shell Folders to it. It's best to
keep your files separate from the OS anyway.
