Shadows around text and icons and everything else

I feel silly, I'm sure it's something simple and I'm just over looking but
I've tried everything and I can't seem to get rid of it. There are shadows
next to everything even as I'm typeing this there are shadows following.
Some day's my computer is fine and dosen't do it but today it is the worse
I've seen it. Someone please help me I don't no what else to do.

Hi,

You will just need to go into the "Visual Effects Options for
Appearance and Performance" settings and uncheck the "show shadow"
options you do not want. This tutorial will show you how.

I'm sorry to say but that is not working, I do not have the option to Enable
Transparent glass. Maybe this is why it's not working for me. Any more ideas?

Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card installed? This
may solve your "Shadows" problem.

As far a Transparent Glass is concerned, that may be that your graphics
card just doesn't support Aero. You need a gfx card with at least 128MB
memory and it should support Shader Model 2.0

Also, which version of Windows Vista are you using. Some of the
lower-end versions such as Vista Starter and Vista Home Basic (I think)
do not support Aero, even if your graphics card does...

It was something very simple! My husband got to messing with the wires from
the monior to the hard drive and that's what was causeing the shadows my
computer is fine now picture perfect!
