Shared Docs Folder

I have two networked Dells running XP Home. I have shared documents folders
set up going both ways. What has happened is, the Desktop link on Computer 1
for the documents on Comp 2 shows as empty, and has changed from the Manila
Folder icon to a generic icon. The folder on Comp 2 is perfectly normal and
shows all its documents. And as long as one of the documents appeared in the
drop down menu on Wordpad, I could still open it. What happened here, and
how do I fix it?
