Hi

In SBS2003 you could edit the default script in the NETLOGON share to
include 'net use Z: \\SERVER\SHARE

In SBS2008 the default script file is not there to edit so how do I set up a
mapped drive to everybody?

Thanks

Daren

Group Policy. There's a GPO for startup settings.

IMO, the fact that the OP had to ask in here how to do this -when she/he
already understands networking practices- shows that it is NOT a good
arrangement. Far from appeasing, it requires people to waste time relearning
skills they already have (aka reinventing the wheel.) On the contrary, it
frustrates and aggravates, and for no good reason.

Also, far too many of these 'better by design' arrangements turn-out to have
unforseen snags which the original method did not have. Notable in this case
is that a script can be copied, transferred to another server or backed-up,
and (when long and complex) can be searched for occurrences of specific text
such as Z: with a texteditor. None of these actions are easy with a GPO.

The change was required to deal with UAC on Vista/Win7 clients. Scripts
needed to run As Administrator, and that meant no automated behaviour when a
user logged in - they'd get hit with a UAC prompt every time. Yes, we all
would prefer to use simple scripts. But sometimes the changes away from them
actually make sense, and IMNSHO this is one of those cases.

Everyday is a perfect opportunity for new learning. I for one, embrace it
and do not consider knowledge expansion including new and more effective /
effecient methods a waste of my time.

IMO, There is no requirment that you or the OP *waste* your time learning
new skills. I was only suggesting to the OP that if he wants his wheel to
go faster then replace the horse with a modern engine.
