Shared Folders : Sharing Photos

The photos I take and share with buddies are 6 megapixels+ and therefore are
over 4MB large. I want to easily copy smaller versions of the files into my
shared folders for my buddies to see as otherwise bandwidth is consummed and
synching takes a long while. How do I do this in easiest possible way?

Ideally I'd like an option to be available that allows me to set resize
setting of photos I copy into the shared folders such that Messenger does the
resizing as part of drag and drop activity. That would be really cool and
save a lot of hassle.

Greetings,

I recommend using Microsoft's RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer, which is an
XP Powertoy. You can download it from the following link:

Greetings,

You could always use Windows Live Spaces and post them there, saving having to transfer them
to every single person:

For what he needs, I think the Image Resizer Powertoy should suffice,
nothing fancy, once installed, just right click on your image(s) and
click Resize image.

Thanks for suggestion but in fact I want ot stick to Messenger as I tend to
produce photos selections targeted specifically to particular buddies. Would
be good if you could add this option to the list of possibles for next
release. I have friends and relations in all parts of the world and bandwidth
available to them varies from dial-up to 24MB.

Greetings,

Will do. I will add this to the feature requests for Windows Live Messenger
8.1 beta. For all authorized testers of WLM 8.1 beta, I will include a
Connect link for this feedback so you can comment, Vote, and validate this
suggestion.

Thanks Scott. This is a better solution than one recommended by Joanthan
Yaniv as I use JPG rather than RAW files. This is a temporary solution until
Microsoft consider giving us option of copying files to target folders at
different sizes.

Hi Tommo,

What you're describing was actually considered for the 8.0 release but got shelved in the
early stages.
