Sharepoint Update 909544 SBS2003

Hi.

Our SB2003 server tried to update with KB909544 but it failed. Now the
MSSQL$SHAREPOINT service will not stay started. Start it and immediately it
closes down.

Even though the update has failed, re-running Windoiws Update does not show
that it needs reinstalling.

In add/remove programmes I cannot see the update in order to remove it.

What should I be doing to sort out this problem please?
