I have successfully used sharing folders for a while now. I had a blue screen
error on my laptop, pages dumped and the system rebooted. When it came back
up, it did a scandisk, fixed some errant files, and operations resumed as
usual. Only my sharing folders have been affected that I can tell so far. I
get the error message stated in the subject line when I choose OK to the
shairng question "xx wants to share files with you". I went into options in
live messenger (v8.5.1302, and turned off sharing, then back on, to no avail.
As others suggestied, I signed in with a different IM identity, and sharing
is working fine with the alternative identity. I also uninstalled and
reinstalled live messenger to no avail. Any suggestions are appreciated

Further investigation reveals that I can log onto another computer, and my
sharing folders work, so it's special to my computer. If I log onto my
computer as another user, and log on to messenger, my sharing folders work
(so it is special to my user/login)

somthing else I notice, which I think is key. When I have my sharing folders
folder open, and my acutal sharing folders are shown inside. When I click on
one of those folders from my login (the one that does not work), that folder
opens in a new windows. On other computers and other logins, it open in the
same window, so I think something is corrupt there, but I can't figure out
how to fix it
