Sharing between host and VM

I have a WinXP Pro SP3 as host and a guest VM2007 with WinXP Pro SP3
installed on it.

If I click View Workgroup Computers on the VM, I can see both the host and
the VM, and I can access share folders on the host from the VM by clicking
the host.

If I click View Workgroup Computers on the host, I can see both the host and
the VM, but if I click the VM I get a message about that the network path
\\VM1 can't be find - where VM1 is the name of the VM.

I would be grateful for any tip on how to to access the VM from the host.

Check firewall settings on the guest....

Have tried different guest firewall settings, and even turned it off.
Undfortunately it has not helped. It would be great to know: Is there anybody
out there who actually has managed to access share folders on the Virutal PC
guest from the host?

Thought I should give the error message I get when trying to open the VM
computer from the host computer:

Login error. The user has not been granted requested login type on this
computer.

Just on thing that might lead somone to a solution:

If I turn the guest user account on the VM off, I get a login "Connects to"
box when clicking the VM on the host. The login box has the guest account
given and it could not be changed. When I click OK to log in, nothing happens.

This is not a VPC problem, it is just about WinXP networking.
If the two PC:s are in a Workgroup environment then you need to have
the same account on both (same login name, same password) and File
Sharing enabled on both.
If one or the other are on a domain things becomes rather much more
complicated.
In any case you're better off asking on a Windows XP networking
newsgroup. Or on microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
