Scott is right, Windows has a limit of 255 characters for file paths. If you
take for instance my account, the path to my sharing folders is:
"C:\Documents and Settings\William\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Messenger\#########@hotmail.com\Sha ring Folders\" which is
123 characters already. the real variables in this path are your username
for Windows (William) and the account you use for WLM (####@hotmail.com).
After you get past this point, then there's a folder for each of your
contacts, named the same as their email address, so if they have long email
addresses, this also cuts into your path. So in reality, you really only get
around 90-100 characters to use for file names in your sharing folders. If
you also organise your files into folders, then they cut into your limit.
So the lesson? Be concise and organised.
