Sharing Folders Problem

I have been using sharing folders for several weeks now without any
problems.

This morning when I try to open a contact's shared folder, I get the
message:

"Your sharing folders aren't yet available. Please try again in a minute"

Anyone know what causes that?

I'm running Windows XP SP2, WLM 8.1.

Everything was working fine until this morning and I haven't changed
anything on my system.

To fx this I eventually tried reinstalling Messenger (choosing repair
install).

All is working fine again now. I wonder what caused that?

A lot of things, from the special service Messenger installs in Windows being broken to a
service interruption on the server side.

Great. Although personally I don't even use this feature, I stick to good old normal file
transfer.

Well I still use "File Transfer" when my contact is there, but "Sharing
Folders" is very handy if you have files you want to let someone have who is
working different shifts, or is in a different part of the world for
example. I just drop them in my contact's sharing folder and leave it logged
in (away) - they can then grab the pictures or whatever, when they log in,
even if you are not there. I think it's a very handy feature indeed.
