Sharing Folders

At some point in the last couple of months, I guess I said "ok" to something
within Windows Live Messenger related to sharing folders, but now I'd like to
make this go away. I'm forever dragging and dropping files and folders from
one window to another, and as soon as you invade the airspace for sharing
folders, it pops up with an annoying warning saying I can't use it unless I'm
logged in.

I've searched for this on the web, and keep coming across regedit solutions
involving specific files, builds, etc. I'd prefer not to have to do this.
If needed, I'll uninstall live messenger, but I'm hoping there's another
option.

Any tips?

Thanks

Jonathan,

I tried the steps you suggested, but am still having the problem. Not sure
if it mattered, but I restarted as well.

Just to clarify, the problem I'm having is in My Computer, when I'm trying
to drag and drop files between drives, especially to/from a USB flash drive.
My Sharing Folders is showing up along with other drives, and when I happen
to cross over the My Sharing Folder item, it pops up telling me I have to be
logged on to use it.

Bottom line is that I want it to go away from My Computer. The change you
suggested below seems to relate to use of Sharing Folders within Messenger.

Any other ideas?

Hi,

Oh, I get what you're saying now. I had similar problems when I had a shortcut to a network
drive to a computer that wasn't on (it froze up explorer while trying to connect to the off
computer).

You can just hide this in My Computer by downloading and running this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...ingfolders.reg

After this if My Computer is open, press F5 to refresh and it should be gone.
