I have a Pan Digital frame I've used to build a demo and have researched this
issue somewhat extensively as I have been using .NET to build related
services. I have discovered the manufacturers support RSS --but-- most of
them have crippled the protocol knowingly or not the protocol as generally
implemented is not compliant with the actual specifications as they are
documented on the Harvard website acting as the spec's repository.
Furthermore, getting any of them to even discuss this or provide their
documentation is not easy as the resellers such as Pan Digital seem to have
something to hide.
There is a service called FrameChannel that has made some progress
apparently by paying for it as I have not been able to find any mention on
their websites of which I know to be a fact, that being many if not most of
them have to support some type of playlist their embedded code can parse and
generally speaking ity has been some type of crippled and non-compiant RSS.
Its been my conclusion to source directly rather than purchase branded
over-priced crippleware from brands such as Pan Digital. The web is your
friend...
