Hi dodo,

Try using the Shell command. Type "Shell:" (No quotes) + the name of
the folder that is incorrect in the white line (Start search) area of
the Start Menu.

For Example, for your "Downloads" folder - type "shell:downloads" (no
quotes) and press Enter.

There will be no spaces in this. For example, for your "Saved Games"
folder - type "shell:savedgames" and press Enter.

Close the window and check your personal folder to see if it is correct
again.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

i tried that; but a window opened and said "no items match your search", and
the folder icons are still the standard yellow folder icon.

Ok,

Try running the "sfc /scannow" command. The will verify and attempt to
repair the system files. See this tutorial for how to use it:

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/66...tem-files.html

If this does not help you, then you can create another administrator
user account temporarily and copy the folders to your account. Delete
the new user account when you are done and had confirmed that it worked.
"OR" you can just use the new one and transfer your old account
settings over.

dodo,

See if enabling the Read-only attribute for the Desktop.ini file helps.
