SHLWAPI.dll, high CPU

I've been trying to nail down a high CPU usage problem by exploreer.exe's
SHLWAPI.dll for weeks, but haven't succeeded. Sometimes I can Suspend in
"Process Explorer," then Resume and it'll drop off; other times that doesn't
work. Sometimes a restart will solve the problem, other times it won't. I
can't see a pattern. I'm talking 35-40% CPU (Core 2 Duo 2.13GHz) usage. No
matter how long I let it live, it won't go away, so it's not connected with
PreFetch or indexing or anything else I can think of. Any ideas? Any help?
(Nothing's popped on Knowledgebase, at least on a search of 'Vista
SHLWAPI.dll cpu'; ditto on the Vista threads.) Thanks.

It's nice to see just how old this problem is and that it still hasn'
been fixed. >:-< SHLWAPI.dll only returns 3 results on the knowledgebas
and none of them are related. :

I've seen some other posts that recommended deleting your user accoun
and transferring your data to a new user. This worked for about a wee
for me. Unfortunately, the bad behavior has returned. Everytime I log i
I need to kill explorer.exe and re-launch it. What's SHLWAPI.dll use
for anyway? Can I just unregister it or something so explorer doesn'
attach it

Hi,

If you bought a Laptop that has a finger scanner, then dpagent.exe
(Digital Persona) might be causing the problem... Otherwise try closing
one of other programs from your task bar one by one until explorer cpu
usage drops considerably, after that remove that program from your
startup or get an alternative or upgrade...

Hope this helps
