Shortcut to nowhere.

I installed a program, Slysoft's Virtual Clone drive. It wasn't what
I wanted so I uninstalled it from control panel / programs & features.
Nothing unusual there. I'm sure that is the 'right' way to remove an
unwanted program.

But, now I have a blank shortcut on the desktop. Vista won't let me
delete it. It says "Verify the items location and try again.".

But it's been uninstalled, it's not there, there's nowhere to point
it. Just DELETE the damn shortcut please.

"Verify the items location and try again."
"Verify the items location and try again."
"Verify the items location and try again."
"Verify the items location and try again."
"Verify the items location and try again."
"Verify the items location and try again."
"Verify the items location and try again."
.........

Whats the trick? I'm beginning to get the hump with Vista!

I would try re-installing the offending program. Remove the shortcut,
& then uninstall again.

Just a note to say that after a reboot the shortcut vanished. Vista
did a bit of houseleeping. Wish it would sort my front room out!
