i'm a bit of a newbie at this sort of thing but can anybody help ,i am
wanting to put the msn home page ,shortcut on my pc,

Hello Grumps,

If you mean you want a internet shortcut on your desktop, then this
tutorial will help show you how to while your at that page in Internet
Explorer.

On the desktop, right-click and select "New" and then "Shortcut". Here
insert the page address you want (in this case http://www.msn.com), press
"next" and then name the shortcut.

At least this is the way it works in Vista, probably similar to other SO...

Hi,

Another thing you can do in all major browsers (including ancient IE versions) is just grab
the page/web site icon next to the address in the browser address bar and drag it to the
desktop (or folder, or quick launch, whatever) then it'll make a shortcut for you within the
pain of this dialog.

Speaking of creating a shortcut this way, this has existed since Windows 95 /w IE4, so it's
in all the Windows versions since then.
