shortcut to turn on and off the Navigation Pane?

Sometimes the Navigation Pane is useful when you need to quickly find
something in different folders of the same folder. Most of time, I
don't have a use for it and find it annoying. Instead of going through
Organize > Navigation Pane to turn on and off, is there a shortcut
that I can create to turn it on and off quickly?

Thanks,

You could have it set off generally and right-click a folder > Explore for
those times when you want to see it.

If you know a scripting language then you could toggle it eg by sending
keystrokes to the menus, to which you could then assign a keyboard
combination. Might be a ready written script around if you google a bit for
it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it before and it always goes back
to normal view (left pane goes away) when clicking on the folder at
the left.
