My computer is insisting I install...nag.nag nag..But after reading all the
problems I'm not sure if I need a headache. I have a fresh reformatted
computer now working well....no viruses a few persistent adware who are
slowing getting tired of being sent away. I have not installed any new
software that didn't come with the computer ...yet. I have updated all my
Windows Upgrades except ....THE BIG WINDOWS XP2......I want a vote...should I
should I not...
Also considering that there is nothing on it that a reformat couldn't
fix..should I still go for it...anyone?

SP2 is a solid, secure release. It is a major "Critical Update"
for Windows XP and updates over 5 million lines of code,
enabling much stronger security, stability, and affords a tad better
performance benefit. SP2 was extensively tested on hundreds of
thousands of various computer configurations over a period of
many, many months. I would encourage you to install it at your
earliest convenience since it renders SP1 virtually obsolete.

You are now in the best condition to install SP-2 since you have a Clean
Installation.
You will never be in this situation until your next format.

You will most likely need SP-2 sooner or later and you may need it now.

4 vote for yes and I STILL lean towards a very BIG NO! I installed it on my
laptop. Immediately lost any ability to connect to the web. The damned
Security Center thing wouldn't leave me alone and I damned sure don't need
the firewall (I have one that works very well, thank you). Is ther a way to
install sp2 without the above?

I REALLY DON'T TRUST MS. The only thing you're consistently good at is
buggy software.

Sorry, guys. But I wouldn't even use MS software if I wasn't forced to.
and, NO, I'm not a MAC fan either. I would just like to find an operating
system that works.
