What should we do about KB937287 ?

Following the difficulty lots of Vista users have had trying to install
update KB937287 (and KB938371 for me) and its subsequent withdrawal, what is
the recommended course of action for those of us who have actually managed
to get the updates installed?

Given that Microsoft have said they will be issuing the update again when
the problem has been resolved would it be advisable to attempt a system
restore to a point prior to the installation?

IMHO, that would be a prudent course of action.

If it isn't broke, why fix it. If it loaded fine and you are not having
problems with your system it doesn't seem to be necessary to accomplish a
system restore. I don't plan on doing it myself since I haven't had any
problems related to this update.

The decision is your though.

If you are not experiencing any problems I would just leave it
installed.

You do know that updates show up on the list of things that can be
uninstalled in the control panel, right?

I've never tried uninstalling one, but that may be a preferred option to try
before going to System Restore.

Unfortunately, these two updates are listed but they cannot be uninstalled
in the usual manner.

As others have suggested, if you're not having trouble since the update,
leave it where it is.

Hello,
The update itself is fine, the issue only happens during the installation
of the update.
Once it's installed certainly leave it there.
If you install KB937287 by itself with no other updates you shouldn't have
an issue, unless your machine is powered off in the middle of installation.

Barry,

If you have successfully installed both of the prerequisite updates, as
have I, there is no need to do anything. You do not need to uninstall them
and/or restore to a prior date. Your system is fine and SPI will
successfully install, provided you do not have one of the problem drivers
mentioned in Microsoft's previous SP1 articles.
However, for those of you who have had problems successfully installing
the above listed updates you can go to this Microsoft page to alleviate the
problem.
