Hello

I feel like a true noob not being able to find a solution for this
problem.

For some reason my Vista is showing every folder as if they was
containing Music. I realize that you can chose the layout of folders for
specific type of files.

However, how do i change this?
It's in the very root of my drives throughout the hierarchy. I'm
interested in bits'n bytes, not artists and albums. I'd really only like
such information in my Music folder.

Thank you for your obvious answer, that have evilly eluded me

(And is there perhaps a way to reset all settings, so i can have just
one global setting? I'm tired of the windows being different all the
time in icon size, being listed or not listed etc.)

I had the same problem, posted nov 12. Here is a reply I got:

You can configure Windows Explorer to show whatever columns you want...
Either change the folder template by -
right-click on an open area of the right pane, and select "customize this
folder", and choose "All items" or, right-click on the Name heading, and
select "More..."

Your lucky. For some reason Vista modified my music folders to display
as if they were image folders.

Hi Fudwinkle,

Welcome to the Vistax64.com forum. arty:

The "Automatic Folder Type Discovery" feature is responsible for
changing your folder template to the Music one automatically when it
contains just one little audio file. Method Two in this tutorial will
show you how to disable this feature and reset the folder view settings
so Vista will remember your settings. The download option is the
easiest way of doing this.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70...-settings.html

This tutorial will show you how to change the Folder Template to what
you want. See the examples to know which one you want to use.

This could have been a great new feature, but it's so flawed I just got rid
of it:

Disable Automatic Folder Type Discovery for Templates in Vista

Microsoft should give users control over what needs to be done instead of
thinking they can guess what everyone wants.
