On Vista Home 64 bit, how can I set the shut down prompt to default to
shut down, and not sleep?

Go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings
Change what the Power button does.

This tutorial will help show you how to change the power button option
for the Start menu and Case

I don't have a Hardware & Sound option in CP.

Since you are in Classic View, skip Hardware and Sound and go straight
to Power Options.

OK, I'm in there, and I see the options, but nothing to do with the shut
down menu.

Hi justin, Click Power Options Icon > Change plan settings > Chang
advanced power settings > Change settings that are currentl
unavailable. Click + for Power buttons and lid > + for Start menu powe
button > Setting, then click click on the drop down arrow. Click wha
you want the Start menu power button to do. Click OK. See the tutoria
for screenshots and more info.
