After installing updates i always get the restart message: "restart now og
restart later". However I usually download updates when i am using my
computer, and i do not want to restart until hours later. How do I prevent
the message from appearing. So that i can restart my computer in my own time?

Easy. When you install updates, don't do anything else. You should be
disabling your AV and not playing around with your computer when you do
updates. You do know that many of these updates are changing your
registry, don't you? It's either that or spend a lot more time fixing
your computer after a failed update than any reboot could possibly take.

Well - it's pretty simple, really.

When you see the message about there being updates downloaded and ready to
install - IGNORE it until you are ready to actually install and face the
consequences - which may be a reboot.

In other words - something made you choose to install the updates - learn to
post-pone that urge until you are done and then when the updates are done,
you can restart without issues. After all - you obviously changed it to
download updates and let me choose when to install (good) - so why would you
choose to install right before you start doing major work on the computer?
That's like hiring painters to paint a room in your home, telling them to
start and then trying to hang pictures while you watch them work...
