Shutdown Failure

Running Vista Home Premium 32 bit. All has been OK for some time. However
I accepted the latest uodate from MS this morning and now the PC won't turn
off. Shutdown closes Vista, the monitor goes into sllep mode, but the PC
doesn't power down. Only way I can do this now is to disconnect the power
cord. I have tried several reboots, but still no full shutdown. And this
started after accepting MS recommended update.

Try a restore point so you at least get back to where you were. Will
be interesting to see if that will let you shut down or cause a hang
too.

Which update was it? You can uninstall windows updates from "Add/remove
programs" if you click the option on the left pane "View installed updates".

Hi Adam,

There was a restore point created just before the update. So I restored and
all is now working.

Hi Robert,

There was a "security" update and two or three nVidia drivers. I've done
the restore, so I guess I will be asked to update again, and I will write
down the update details next time.

Regards
Doug
