shutdown problem

hello all

whenever i connect some USB device to my computer , 90% of the times my
computer hangs performing shutdown and the screen shows the message
"shutting down" . It sticks to that and nothing happens.

Any solutions please.

The USB devices are : Apple ipod nano and HP Laserjet 1020 printer. the
problem mostly occures in the case of the printer.

> Hello - I have similar shutdown / startup issues, and it takes a very long time for both processes to complete. I do have an HP 6210 series printer and a mouse USB connected, but no other devices attached. Any suggestions?
