Sidebar and Gadgets Issue

Hi Folks.

I have searched and not found any answers to my particular problem s
far. I see that most people have issues with their sidebar no
appearing. Well my sidebar will not allow any gadgets to be added to it
I have tried all options of download from the Windows gadget site and n
luck. They just wont go into the gadgets folder or on the sidebar. Ye
the gadgets that are already in the folder, work fine and I am a happ
camper with my existing gadgets, but would really love to add a few mor
to it.

Any suggestions on what may be wrong?. I have tried re booting and i
no work :cry:.

Once you've downloaded the gadget you can add it as follows ~ 'Add a
Gadget to the Windows Sidebar - Add gadgets'
(http://windows.about.com/od/windowsv...add_Gadget.htm)

I typically install the gadget by installing instead of saving the
gadget when I download it.

I am also having problems with the gadgets. I can get the " weather show"
gadget to download from the Windows gadget site and it will appear on the
sidebar. But then when I try to delete or add any cities for this gadget it
will not let me add the cities.
I have also added the calculator, the stock mkt. and the calendar and they
all work fine. I too tried rebooting and also tried uninstall them all but
the same problem exists. Any solutions, would be appreciated. Thanks

sounds like a problem in the particular gadget, rather than a Vista problem
per se. Have you had at look at the gadget makers site, some of them have
forums, might be on the Options Panel, where'd you get the puppy - I don't
see on MS's gadget page.

Regarding basic action of adding Vista gadgets to the sidebar:

If you can't drag the gadgets from the gadget gallery that came with Vista
onto the sidebar you may want to consider system restore to a point when you
could.



Regarding downloading sidebar gadgets from the internet:

When downloading gadgets from:
http://vista.gallery.microsoft.com/v...spx?mkt=en-us:

Try this:

-Download, open/run and install right away. Don’t save the file, then try to
install it later.
-For some gadgets you may to try download and install, twice.

Vista does not guarantee that gadgets downloaded from the internet will work
unless they were verified by MS
