Sidebar issue

I recently had to do a complete system reset back to factory defaults. I've
spent two days downloading and installing all the various updates and
getting things back the way I liked them.
I do like using some of the gadgets in Windows Sidebar, but unfortunately
they are displayed much bigger icon size than the other icons on my desktop.
Changing the desktop area or dpi or resolution changes the size/etc of all
the other icons on the desktop, but doesn't affect the sidebar gadget sizes
at all.
Any suggestions?

Yes. Come to understand how sidebar works.

Those are not icons, they are program windows.
